Peninsula College launched esports in the Fall of 2019 under the leadership of head coach Charlie Morrow who was succeeded by now head coach Katrina Campbell. The Pirate Esports program features teams competing in Rocket League, Halo: Infinite, Super Smash Brothers, Call of Duty, EA games, and Mario Kart; as well as a full production team. The Pirate Esports athletes participate in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Esports circuit (NJCAAE) and face off against many other junior colleges across the country, as well as other collegiate leagues. In 2022, Pirate Esports athletes reached the playoffs in both Smash Brothers and FIFA. In addition to intercollegiate matches, the PC Esports team also plans to engage and nurture gaming skills in the community through mentorship, community service, and clinics. Watch games on Twitch.

As a player on the PC Esports team, you get to experience the following:

  • Participate in intensive, intercollegiate competition against both 2-year and 4-year schools across the country;
  • Practice in a dedicated esports arena complete with Razer and Logitech peripherals, Acer 144hz monitors, and custom-built gaming PCs;
  • Receive support from an experienced esports coach and guidance on transferring to a 4-year school that offers similar esports programs to further build on your skills;
  • University-level structure and experience;
  • Jerseys and other gear;
  • Scholarships based on merit and need;
  • And a spot in CHI Student Housing, which boasts incredibly fast and reliable internet speeds.

If you want an affordable but valuable education while honing your gaming skills in a supportive environment, Peninsula College is for you! We encourage players of all skillsets to apply. We also welcome international and running start students. For more information, please email Coach Campbell at esports@pencol.edu.
